Request
I understand that the Hereford council have in storage a lot of large planters as in Hightown and the relief road via the rail station but cannot use them as they cannot afford the cost of the plants to put in them and the cost of additional watering.
Could you therefore clarify this and the cost of these unused planters to the council tax payers.

Answer: 14 planters are in storage following a review of Hightown and which we are in the process of arranging to move to new positions at Primary Schools across the city.
No planters have been removed from the road adjacent to Hereford Railway Station.
82 planters continue to be watered and managed across the city.
In relation to the cost of the planters being in storage – the maintenance (Including watering) is covered as part of a wider arrangement that Herefordshire Council has with Hereford in Bloom.
Hereford in Bloom continue to water and maintain all assets regardless of location, however there is no extra cost associated with storing these 14 planters, as they are stored in a facility owned by Herefordshire Council.
