Under the Freedom of Information Act, please provide me with information on the following:
- Confirm the total number of permanent exclusions have been withdrawn/cancelled in your local authority area in 2020/21, 2021/22 and 2022/23 and the reasons for the cancellations.
- Confirm how many withdrawn/cancelled permanent exclusions resulted in a permanent move to an alternative setting (Managed Move) in your local authority area in 2020/21, 2021/22 and 2022/23.
Response
Under the Freedom of Information Act, please provide me with information on the following:
- Confirm the total number of permanent exclusions have been withdrawn/cancelled in your local authority area in 2020/21, 2021/22 and 2022/23 and the reasons for the cancellations.
Zero for each of the years specified.
- Confirm how many withdrawn/cancelled permanent exclusions resulted in a permanent move to an alternative setting (Managed Move) in your local authority area in 2020/21, 2021/22 and 2022/23.
Zero.
The Service Area have confirmed that within Herefordshire, we focus on the managed move as an agreement between schools as a step before a permanent exclusion happens, with school notifying us they have a child at risk and we try to work with the school and pupil to avoid a permanent exclusion. We have advocated school to school partnerships to support managed moves through a local agreement between each other.
