Broadlands Lane Non-Enforcement and Failure to Protect Residents
Case reference FOI2026/00787
Received 20 March 2026
Published 10 April 2026
Request
I would therefore like a substantive response to the following: 1. What immediate enforcement action will now be taken on Broadlands Lane?
3. What monitoring has been undertaken of Broadlands Lane specifically since September 2025?
4. What use is being made of any camera or traffic data gathered in connection with the surrounding school traffic measures?
6. What specific steps will now be taken to stop Broadlands Lane functioning as an overflow car park for the surrounding education cluster? To be clear, I am not seeking another generic acknowledgement or restatement of policy. I am seeking a practical service response to a longstanding and worsening failure of enforcement.
Response
1. What immediate enforcement action will now be taken on Broadlands Lane?
A: No immediate enhanced enforcement action will take place during the trial period, however, as outlined above, more stringent enforcement may be introduced following elected Members’ review of the consultation report.
3. What monitoring has been undertaken of Broadlands Lane specifically since September 2025?
A: Herefordshire Council installed sensors in the summer of last year and these are continuously monitoring vehicle and pedestrian flow. The sensor data will feature in the May report to help members understand the levels compliance or lack of compliance.
4. What use is being made of any camera or traffic data gathered in connection with the surrounding school traffic measures?
A: Please see response to your third question.
6. What specific steps will now be taken to stop Broadlands Lane functioning as an overflow car park for the surrounding education cluster?
A: No specific steps or changes in the parking or enforcement regime are planned at this time. Following the consultation further changes to the restrictions or
enforcement may happen. These will be communicated once agreed.
