Council staff on long term sick leave

Request

Under the FOI Act I would like to request the amount of staff employed by the council that are currently on long term sick leave as of 12th February 2024.

I would also like to request the amount of staff that were on long term sick leave on the same day in 2023 and in 2019.

For clarification, long term sick leave is classed by the UK Government as four or more weeks of absence due to sickness. See definition here: https://www.gov.uk/taking-sick-leave#:~:text=Employees%20who%20are%20off%20work,be%20considered%20long%2Dterm%20sick.

Response

Under the FOI Act I would like to request the amount of staff employed by the council that are currently on long term sick leave as of 12th February 2024.

A) Long term sickness as at 12th February:

2024 = 9

2023 = 28

2019 = 31
