Costs of the May Fair

Case reference FOI2023/00831

Published 16 May 2023

Request

Could you please provide a breakdown the costs that the Showman's Guild or May Fair pay to be in the City of Hereford and Leominster during the time for the May Fair?

I am interested in how much they pay for the removal of plants, planters and their return and exactly how much they pay Herefordshire Council to be here for the duration of the May Fairs.

You could provide the cost for 2022 and 2023.

Response

The fee charged to the Showman's Guild in 2022 and 2023 for the May Fair was as follows:

Leominster: £7,000

Hereford: £43,000

Please note that this is a flat fee, they do not pay for the removal of street furniture.

In 2022 the costs for the temporary relocation of plants and planters and their return was £8,331.88. The costs of this for 2023 are not yet known at the time of writing. It's expected that this information will be held by the end of July, and so if you wish to be provided with these figures please make a further request for this information at that time.
