A: Public Health Commissioners of sexual health services only monitor waiting times for appointments for IUDs/IUSs from the sexual health services we commission directly and forms part of the contract monitoring process. We do not monitor waiting times with general practices.

Request 2:

Please confirm or deny whether the local authority stipulates and/or monitors waiting time requirements in contracts with (a) general practice and (b) sexual and reproductive health services for appointments for the fitting of IUDs/IUSs.

If confirm, please release corresponding data on (i) average waiting times and (ii) the longest waiting time in the most recent year for which figures are available.

A: Waiting times for routine care of IUDs/IUSs at the sexual health clinic is:

6 weeks for non-urgent Coil IUD/IUS

8 weeks for non-urgent implant

Emergency LARC procedure or young people attending walk-in would be a much shorter waiting time than the above.
