Response

1. What funding is Herefordshire Council designating towards the wellbeing of teachers and schooling staff in your local area?

No funding is ring fenced or spent directly on this by Herefordshire Council because schools are funded by central government and they choose how to spend their funding/allocate their funding. Many will choose to spend some of their budget on staff wellbeing especially as this is inspected in the Ofsted Framework. You would need to contact the schools directly to obtain information on how their budgets are allocated. The below link provides the contact details for the schools in Herefordshire.

2. If possible, could you please send me a relevant name/email/contact number of someone in charge of mental health within schools in your local area?

There is no one person who meets this description. Each school is responsible for the emotional well-being of the staff and pupils in their school. Each school should have a senior mental health lead.

3. What funding is being designated to schools, specifically for student wellbeing in your local area?

There is not a specific budget delegated to schools for student well-being. The school receives an overall school budget from which it needs to use for this. The Department of Education has allocated funding for each school to train their senior mental health lead.

4. What is the number of schools/teachers that Herefordshire Council provides funding for?

58 mainstream schools, 2 special and 1 PRU = Total 61 schools

932 teachers
