Fair Access Protocol

Case reference FOI2022/00555

Published 13 May 2022

Request

I am contacting you about the Fair Access Protocol in place in your LA and data related to the use of this protocol. Local authorities are required to agree a Fair Access Protocol to ensure that vulnerable children, especially those who are having difficulty securing a school place in-year, are allocated a place as quickly as possible. I am currently researching reintegration for pupils moving from alternative provision back to mainstream schools. This FOI request is a way of building up a broad evidence base to establish the ways in which Fair Access Protocols are used to support the reintegration of pupils from alternative provision to mainstream schools. I anticipate that this research will enable a better understanding of the way in which Fair Access Protocols can support reintegration for pupils in alternative provision. Please can you provide:

- your agreed Fair Access Protocol, and

- an overview of the cases referred to your FAP in the financial year 1st April 2021 to 31st March 2022 breaking this down by types of transition and school phase - please make use of the attached spreadsheet to do this.
