Published 25 August 2023

Request

• The number of Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) you have in your area

• The current (to date 2023/24) overall % recycling rate across all your HWRCs

• The current (to date 2023/24) % recycling rate at each individual HWRC

• The overall % recycling rate across all your HWRCs for the last 2 years - 2021/22 and 2022/23

• Tonnage data spilt per HWRC and for each separately collected material (- recyclable, reusable and disposed materials ) at each HWRC to date (2023/24) and for the last 2 years (2021/22 and 2022/23). The recycling rate I am looking for is as per DEFRA's definition for recycling rates. Where possible please provide this information in excel spreadsheet as long as each material and each HWRC information is clearly identifiable.

Response

• The number of Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) you have in your area

There are 6 HWRC's in Herefordshire.

• The current (to date 2023/24) overall % recycling rate across all your HWRCs

• The current (to date 2023/24) % recycling rate at each individual HWRC

• The overall % recycling rate across all your HWRCs for the last 2 years - 2021/22 and 2022/23

In response to the above questions, please see the attached spreadsheet. Row 24 of the spreadsheet lists residual waste i.e. waste that was sent to recovery / landfill. So, with this information included the attached shows the total of everything that has gone through the HWRC's and from that you will be able to calculate any percentages required.

Please see the attached spreadsheet which details the tonnage data. All materials are sent for reuse or recycling with the exception of the residual waste stream which is either landfilled or used for energy recovery.
