Herefordshire Council does not operate a Paediatric Occupational Therapy Service.

Although Herefordshire Council supports children and their families with the provision of essential community equipment and home modifications it is not a direct employer of paediatric occupational therapists. This information can be obtained via Wye Valley NHS Trust.

OT referrals waiting time for assessment:

Longest - 547 days

Herefordshire Council commissions various OT services directly with Wye Valley NHS Trust under shared / pooled funds arrangements in order to undertake prescribed local authority functions and prescribed NHS functions.

Namely:-Reablement, Specialist Adaptations Paediatric Occupational Therapist & Admission Avoidance. Herefordshire Council & Wye Valley NHS Trust regularly review community therapy services arrangements under their Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) and in line with NHS National workforce and service Directives.

Herefordshire Council completed a four quote process, via an electronic procurement portal, to appoint a provider for its Occupational Therapy Assessment Support Service. This is permissible until the Contract Procedure Rules, as the contract is within the medium value threshold of £25,001 to £75,000.

ii.     Direct relationships - N/A

iv.    Other (please elaborate) - N/A

b.      Who is your current independent provider(s) for OT Assessments:

i.      Name of supplier(s) - Access independent

ii.     The number of cases outsourced and a cost paid per assessment (on average if easier)

200 OT referrals. We are unable to provide cost per OT assessment as current external OT contract includes costs for administration, OT assessment/s and costs for ongoing case management. Each individual OT referral therefore costed individually and is variable.

iii.  The forecast total value spent during the contract term - Maximum £75,000
