Closed wells and boreholes due to groundwater contamination from Sutton Walls

Request

1. Please release documentation showing full number of wells which have been ordered by Hereford Council to be closed as a result of the known significant groundwater contamination from Sutton Walls.

(Please note there is reliable report that this may extend to domestic properties further afield than adjacent to the site.)

2. Please confirm whether borehole closure has been ordered for any farm within 2 mile radius of the toxic waste site.

1. Please release documentation showing full number of wells which have been ordered by Hereford Council to be closed as a result of the known significant groundwater contamination from Sutton Walls.

(Please note there is reliable report that this may extend to domestic properties further afield than adjacent to the site.)

There are 4 well supplies within 2 miles of Sutton Walls landfill site which currently have notices served under regulation 18 of the Private Water Supplies (England) Regulations 2016 (as amended). The notices have been issued with 'Do not drink' advice due to evidence of contamination likely to be from Sutton Walls Landfill site at one site and as advisory notices on their being a likelihood of similar contamination at another 3 supplies nearby.

2. Please confirm whether borehole closure has been ordered for any farm within 2 mile radius of the toxic waste site.

According to our records there are no notices advising 'do not drink' for a borehole serving a farm within 2 miles of the Sutton Walls landfill.
