I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to request the following information which relates to your spending on Christmas/festive season lights and decorations for public spaces in your jurisdiction.
Please may you provide me with data on:
Q1. The total amount of money that the Local Authority plans to spend on Christmas lights in 2022, and how much was spent in 2021, 2020, 2019.
Q2. The total amount of money that the Local Authority plans to spend on Christmas decorations in 2022, and how much was spent in 2021, 2020, 2019.
Q3. The cost of energy used to run Christmas lights in 2021.

Q1. The total amount of money that the Local Authority plans to spend on Christmas lights in 2022, and how much was spent in 2021, 2020, 2019.
Q2. The total amount of money that the Local Authority plans to spend on Christmas decorations in 2022, and how much was spent in 2021, 2020, 2019.
For Questions 1 and 2, the council is spending £0 this year and spent £0 in the previous years. Lights / decorations in the market towns are the responsibility of their town councils and to obtain that information you would need to contact each council direct. Please find below the contact details which I trust will be useful.

Lights in Hereford City are either the responsibility of the city council or are privately operated. You can contact Hereford city council via email on clerk@herefordcitycouncil.gov.uk
There are lights / decorations in the Maylord centre, Hereford, which is owned and run by Herefordshire Council, but these have been paid for by the centre's tenants not the local authority.
Q3. The cost of energy used to run Christmas lights in 2021
We are not able to separate out the costs of energy used to run the lights in the Maylord centre in 2021 from the other energy costs of running the centre, therefore we are unable to answer this part of your request.
