Response

I am writing to request information regarding noise complaints associated with heat pumps in your area.

Could you please provide the following information for each year from 2015 to the most recent year with available data:

- The total number of noise complaints associated with heat pumps broken down by heat pump type if possible (e.g. water source, air source, ground source, shared loop ground source).

The Service Area have confirmed there have been two noise complaints associated with air source heat pumps. These complaints were made by the same complainant, one was received in 2019 and the other again in 2022.

- The associated outcome of the noise complaints, if possible.

In 2019 the investigation identified noise not a Statutory Nuisance. However, questions on suitable sighting of the air source heat pump (ASHP) on new property and some noise impact was identified in the complainants first floor bedroom window in line of sight of the ASHP (with window slightly open). The ASHP property owner carried out voluntary works to install an additional noise barrier structure. This increased the height of the barrier between ASHP and complainant's house, so ASHP no longer in sight from first floor bedroom.

In 2022 confirmed no change from previous investigation no Statutory Nuisance concerns no further action.
