Under the Freedom of Information Act, I would like to request the following information:
1. What funding (if any) do you offer to small businesses in the local area?
2. How many grants (if any) do you offer to small businesses in the local area?
3. If funding or grants are offered, please can you provide the specific monetary figures that are available to small businesses in the local area.
4. How many grants, or funding offers, were applied for and successfully granted to small businesses in the calendar years 2021, 2022 and 2023.
Response
Under the Freedom of Information Act, I would like to request the following information:
1. What funding (if any) do you offer to small businesses in the local area?
A) Funding opportunities for Herefordshire businesses are publically available on the Herefordshire Council website and can be viewed via the following links:
https://www.herefordshire.gov.uk/grants-funding-1/current-grants-funding (This also includes funding schemes that have recently closed but may reopen soon.)
https://www.marchesgrowthhub.co.uk/funding/grants/
As such we consider this information to be exempt under Section 21 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 because it is reasonably accessible to you via other means. Please take this letter as a refusal notice under S17 of the Act.
2. How many grants (if any) do you offer to small businesses in the local area?
A) As above, however, some grants are restricted to rural areas and others cover the whole county.
3. If funding or grants are offered, please can you provide the specific monetary figures that are available to small businesses in the local area.
A) This varies depending on which grant scheme, how the application is scored against the criteria and the availability of funding within the funding round. Grant awards have varied from £500 to £150,000 during the period below.
4. How many grants, or funding offers, were applied for and successfully granted to small businesses in the calendar years 2021, 2022 and 2023.
A) The number of grants, or funding offers, applied for and successfully granted to small businesses in the calendar years 2021, 2022 and 2023, is publically available on the Herefordshire Council website and can be viewed via the following link: https://www.herefordshire.gov.uk/council/open-data-principles/2
