1. How many children, age upto 19th birthday, came into contact with Herefordshire Councils child social services following a police protection order between 01/01/23 and 31/12/23?
2. Are corporate parents informed when looked after children, or care leavers for whom the council has a duty of care is issued with a police protection order?
3. Does the council have a means of logging and therefore reviewing and tracking outcomes for police protection orders?
4. Is the council informed of every police protection order issued in Herefordshire?.
5. If a police protection order is issued for one of Herefordshires looked after children, or a care leaver for whom the council has a duty of care, out of county has Herefordshire council a means of finding this detail? or is there a national notification system?
Response
1. How many children, age up to 19th birthday, came into contact with Herefordshire Councils child social services following a police protection order between 01/01/23 and 31/12/23?
A: 8
2. Are corporate parents informed when looked after children, or care leavers for whom the council has a duty of care is issued with a police protection order?
A: Yes – there is a duty on the Police to inform the LA under the Children Act 1989 s.46.
3. Does the council have a means of logging and therefore reviewing and tracking outcomes for police protection orders?
A: Yes
4. Is the council informed of every police protection order issued in Herefordshire?
A: Yes
5. If a police protection order is issued for one of Herefordshires looked after children, or a care leaver for whom the council has a duty of care, out of county has Herefordshire council a means of finding this detail? or is there a national notification system?
A: If a police protection order is issued to one of our children placed out of county the Police would notify the Local Authority where the child is resident and this would trigger liaison between the Local Authority where they are placed, Herefordshire Council and the Police force who exercised their Police Powers to enforce a police protection order.
