Herefordshire Council has cancelled the Hereford Bypass. Please let me know the financial details
(1) what was spent on this project up to the date of cancellation
(2) what was spent after the cancellation date
(3) what penalties (if any) were imposed by contracts/LEP/DfT as a result of cancellation
(4) did the council reimburse any external funders with any amounts after the cancellation.

(1) What was spent on this project up to the date of cancellation?
On 2 February 2021 Herefordshire Council took the decision to cease work on a western Hereford bypass and the southern link road schemes. Further details can be found on the council's website via the following link:

In relation to the bypass £9.18m was spent up to the point of cancellation as per the decision report that went to Council, when the decision to stop was taken. Including the amount spent on the southern link road the total up to the date of cancellation was £17.3m.
(2) What was spent after the cancellation date?
£0.17m has been spent since the cancellation on the Hereford bypass. Including the amount spent after the cancellation on the southern link road the total is £0.3m.
(3) What penalties (if any) were imposed by contracts/LEP/DfT as a result of cancellation?
No penalties were imposed.
(4) Did the council reimburse any external funders with any amounts after the cancellation?
The council did not reimburse any external funders after cancellation with regards to the bypass. In relation to the southern link road the council made a payment of £2.3m to Shropshire Council, acting in its capacity as the Accountable Body for the Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP).
