Recycling rates for 2021-2022 and April 2022-December 2022

1. What is the recycling rate (as a percentage of the total weight of waste) for all waste produced in the council area for the financial year 2021-22, and from the start of financial year 2022 to 31 December 2022?

2. If the figures for 2022/23 are not yet available, please provide an estimated amount, or the amount recycled thus far.

3. How often in a single four-week period does the council collect recycling bins for the following from domestic households:

a. Paper/Cardboard

b. Glass

c. Plastic

d. Cans

Response

1. What is the recycling rate (as a percentage of the total weight of waste) for all waste produced in the council area for the financial year 2021-22, and from the start of financial year 2022 to 31 December 2022?

The Reuse, Recycling and Composting rate for 2021-22 was 39.2 % (for dry recycling specifically the percentage is 31.47%).

PLEASE NOTE - these figures have not yet been verified by the Environment Agency so are subject to change.

2. If the figures for 2022/23 are not yet available, please provide an estimated amount, or the amount recycled thus far.

We are not yet able to provide figures or an estimate of the percentage recycled so far in 2022/23.

3. How often in a single four-week period does the council collect recycling bins for the following from domestic households:

a. Paper/Cardboard

We provide a mixed dry-recycling collection service to households on a fortnightly basis that includes paper/cardboard, glass, plastic and cans i.e. twice in a single four week period.
