Request

Please may you provide me with:

1) The overall funding for this year allocated by the council to the NHS Health Checks programme

2) Is there a limit to the number of NHS Health Checks that GP practices can provide and be reimbursed for by the council?

3) If so, what is this limit (per GP practice, per year)? Please provide the information in the form a pdf or word document. Clarification: Could you please provide both financial years 2024/25 and 2025/26?

Response

1) The overall funding for this year allocated by the council to the NHS Health Checks programme

Answer:

a. 2024/25 - £205,000.

b. 2025/26 - £288,863.

2) Is there a limit to the number of NHS Health Checks that GP practices can provide and be reimbursed for by the council?

Answer: Practices are funded as per response to question 1 to invite 20% of all eligible patients on their registered list on a rolling 5 year programme, with a target uptake rate of 55% health checks delivered of the 20% invited cohort for 2024/25, and 50% for 2025/26.  Practices endeavour to reach the target uptake rate, which can see them inviting more than 20% of the eligible population.  Funding is capped as per response to question 1, and as a consequence, delivery by practice is capped at a max of 55% of the 20% eligible population for 2025/26, and 50% of the 20% eligible population for 2024/25.

3) If so, what is this limit (per GP practice, per year)?

Answer: As per response to question 2 but is dependent on the number of invitations that have to be sent to achieve the target rate, which can reduce the overall number of actual health checks delivered due to the cost of sending invitations in access of 20% of the practice list size on a rolling 5 year programme.
